Sewage - Project Overview

Project Overview

The objective of this project is to create a sewage pipe cleaning robotic system. This system would be used to clear and clean any obstructions that build up in the city’s sewage pipes to prevent sewage overflows. This system would be morphable to adapt to different sewage pipe sizes making it a universal system. This system will allow for image viewing of the inner pipes as well as interchangeable parts to see what best fits in removing the obstruction. This project’s focus is to use robotic systems in order to prevent sewer overflows, an occurrence that can threaten the health of the environment and community members.

Why We Chose This Project

This project was chosen because it was something that was close to home. A lack of maintenance results in clogs of mostly wipes, grease, and other obstructions that aren't meant to be flushed. This can result in sanitation related outbreaks. The city of Edinburg actually has a flood factor of 8/10. Because of this, we thought it would be beneficial to create a system to help remove these obstructions and clear the pipes.
