When deciding on an encasing for the electrical components, we had 3 different materials in mind. Those being ABS, PLA, and TPU. We decided to test them to see which material could support the heat the best. In the Heat Transfer laboratory, we heated the materials using radiation until failure was observed. For ABS, the material resisted up until 83°C, but the heat began to degrade the material. The testing for PLA gave worse results as it began to fail at 55°C. According to the testing, the best material overall was TPU as it resisted the highest temperature of 100°C.
